Partner program

Start your own hardwood floor recoat business.

Most worn hardwood floors don't need sanding. They need a fresh coat of finish. We help you set up a recoat business in your name, train you to do the job, and teach you to run the marketing that brings homeowners to you.

The service

The floor fix most homeowners don't know about.

A hardwood floor goes dull because the clear finish on top wears out. In most homes the wood underneath is fine. Homeowners think they have two choices: a full sand and refinish, or new floors. A recoat is the third. You screen the old finish so the new coat grips, then roll a fresh coat of professional two-part finish across the floor.

A recoat

  • About 3 hours on an average home
  • The family stays home
  • Light foot traffic in socks at 24 hours
  • About $1.50 to $3 a square foot

A full sand and refinish

  • 3 to 5 days
  • Rooms off limits, dust to clean up
  • Back on the floor days later
  • Typically $3 to $8 a square foot

Sand and refinish figures are typical industry ranges.

The job

A process, not a talent. One person, about 3 hours.

  1. Step 1

    Measure and quote

Homeowners send photos first, so you can often quote before you drive out. On site you confirm it is real wood or LVP and the wear is in the finish, not the wood.

  2. Step 2

    Screen the floor

A buffer with a fine screen dulls the old finish evenly so the new coat grips. No sanding to bare wood.

  3. Step 3

    Clean and coat

Vacuum, tack off the fine dust, then roll on a fresh coat of two-part finish with a roller on an extension pole. About 2 gallons covers an average home in one coat.

  4. Step 4

    Walkthrough and payment

Walk the floor with the homeowner, explain drying times, collect payment and ask for the review.

Floors you walk away from

  • Pet or water stains soaked into the wood
  • Wood worn gray, with the finish completely gone
  • Deep gouges, or a customer who wants a new color
  • Cupped or warped boards
  • Laminate, sheet vinyl, painted floors or tile

Those floors can still be worth something: refer them to a local refinisher for a full sand. The photos and the estimate visit catch almost all of them before you start.

Drying: walk on it in socks at 24 hours, furniture back in about 3 days on felt pads, fully cured with rugs back in about 7 days. The family stays home the whole time.

The product

What goes on the floor, and why it beats the store.

Gallons of FloorIt two-part, water-based urethane floor finishThe FloorIt roller applicator kit: roller, extension pole, screens and pads

What is it?

A two-part, water-based urethane

A proprietary mix manufactured by ProCoat in Cabot, Arkansas. Part A is the finish, Part B is a hardener you mix in on the job.

What makes it different?

It hardens chemically and bonds to the floor

It cures far tougher than a one-part finish, and goes on over a screened floor, so it becomes part of the old finish. It stays clear, won't yellow and is rated for commercial and sport floors.

Why not just buy it at the store?

The store sells polish and one-part poly

Polish sits on top and peels. One-part stays softer and chips. Neither comes with the prep, the buffer or the training.

Shipped to your door

  • 12 gallons of finish (about 2 gallons a coat per floor), plus prep products and the cleaner you leave with every homeowner
  • 9-inch roller, extension pole and spare covers
  • Trim pad, buffer screens and pads
  • Your first 3 buffer rentals, covered

Every floor is different. Not sure about one? Send photos to our flooring partner and they tell you the product and the steps.

Everything about the finish

The numbers

What one job is worth.

The material is the main cost. There's no crew to pay and no heavy equipment to buy. One person finishes an average home in about 3 hours.

Put every customer on a yearly maintenance plan. Every happy customer is repeat work and a referral to the neighbors.

Who it's for

Two ways to start.

Starting your own business

Keep your job while you start. Two jobs a week is roughly 8 to 10 hours, including estimates and driving. Build it on weekends, then hire a tech when you are ready to step off the floor.

Adding a line to your business

Already run a home service company? Offer recoats to the customers you already have, keep your crew busy in the slow season, and send the floors that need a full sand to a local refinisher.

A good fit if

  • An area with enough homes with real wood floors. We check this for you.
  • You want to own a real local business, or add a high-ticket service to the one you run.
  • Roughly 8 to 10 hours a week to start.
  • You will follow up on every lead and do great work.

Your territory

One partner per area. Not a franchise.

No franchise fee.

No royalties.

No revenue share.

We define your area together, usually your city and the surrounding area, 30 miles to start. Once your area is yours, it's off the market. We don't work with anyone else in it. Want to grow into the next area later? We can talk about that.

Franchise figures are typical industry ranges and vary by brand.

A franchise charges a big upfront fee, then a percentage of every sale forever. We don't. The business is yours: your name, your LLC, your website, your customers. If you ever stop working with us, there's no penalty.

Our incentives are directly aligned.

01

You get jobs.

We help you run your ads and fill your calendar.

02

You sell jobs.

We train you to close in the home.

03

You reorder material.

Jobs use finish. When you reorder ours, we earn.

We only make money when you reorder finish, so we only win when you are doing floors. When you grow, we grow.
